This workshop is a basic foundation to learning woodworking. You will have hands-on experience with each machine in the shop. We discuss each their function and demonstrate how to properly and safely operate each machine. Each participant will have the opportunity to make cuts on each machine.

No prior experience necessary. Recommended first class.

This workshop will cover the most commonly used machines in the shop, including:

-Sliding compound miter saw

-Jointer

-Planer

-Bandsaw

-Clamping systems

-Table saw

-Drum Sander

-Spindle sander

-Edge sander

-Drill press

Workshop Fee $120

WORKSHOPS FOR KIDS

This two-session class you will learn the process of making a multi species cutting/serving board. You will learn the process of milling the rough lumber, jointing, cutting on the table saw and preparing the boards for the glue up process. After we remove from the clamps, you will sand the board, use the router to add a rounded edge and oil and wax the final product.

Your new handcrafted cutting board will give you years of service in the kitchen and you will take away several woodworking techniques to use with future projects.

We will each make a custom and unique cutting board approximately 12"x16".

No prior experience necessary

Selection of 2 or 3 varieties of wood (walnut, cherry, maple, oak, purple heart) You select the board sizes and layout. Every board is unique!

Make yours from Walnut, Cherry or Maple hardwoods, or you may choose to make each from a different wood.

Enjoy a fun and night in the woodshop. You and your date, partner, significant other and/or spouse...will work together to create a set of nesting charcuterie boards. This unique date night is a creative and new experience that may even turn into a new favorite hobby.

We can laser engrave and personalize each board once completed.

Each participant will make a beautiful custom end-grain cutting board from their choice of dark walnut or american cherry. Board size will be approx. 12"x18"x1.25"

(three) 3 hour sessions

meets same day, 3 consecutive weeks

End grain cutting boards or (chopping blocks) orinentate the wood with its fibers facing vertical. The fibers open up when cut and then close back, which helps preserve both the cutting board and the knife blade. We will learn how to select our rough lumber, properly mill, joint and plane all parts. We will do multiple glue-up, sand, finish, oil and wax our finished product.

All participants must have previously taken woodshop orientation and safety workshop.

These boards will be the prefect addition to future date nights at home, enjoying cheese and crackers watching your favorite movies.

CARVING WOODEN SPOONS & UTENSILS ** LEVEL ONE **

Beginners spoon and utensil carving. ( LEVEL ONE)

Each participant will be able to make at least one spoon and one spatula and one spreader. You can make additional with time permitting.

You will learn the fundamental step to designing and hard carving very useful kitten utensils starting with bass wood. After carving and sanding, each piece will be oiled and waxed...ready to take home and use. We have templates available or use your creativity and design something new. Every piece will be unique.
